Matt 9:9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

“Doulos is the Greek word for slave. A slave had no rights. A slave signed over everything to the master, even his own identity. A slave’s one word job description was to obey. So Matthew understood, to call Jesus Lord, was to call himself a slave.” - Not A Fan Study

Think about this question: Do you want to be radical in following Jesus? Here’s an exercise for all of us to do. Make a list of your primary possessions - house, cars, bank accounts, etc. Then make a list of your skills - gardening, teaching, mechanical, selling, nursing, etc. Add a list of your core identities - husband/wife, coach, leader, dad/mom, etc. Then sign all these over to Jesus. Are you willing to do this? (Y / N)

Now answer this question: What possession, skill or identity is most difficult for you to sign over to Jesus? Why is that?

You either lay it all at Christ feet or you clutch that “thing” to your chest while telling Jesus “no”. Which is it for you?
